So this was the blurb that they roped me in with...

I was like "heck yeah" I am totally signing up. And one of my friends from my Moms On The Run group joined me. I think it is so much more fun to go to races with a friend than to go alone. I had never been to that area before so it was even more excited to discover a new place.
This is Stephanie and me before the race, we had to have our picture taken in that exact location :)
We arrived around 5pm and picked up our race packets. We received a really nice tech tank top that was a light orange color and a really nice reusable shopping bag. We then headed to the little shops and all the booths set up. I was able to get my hair braided, which was awesome, because I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it. Oh how I wish I could braid my own hair like this. (That is the back of the tank top we got.)
You could also get a massage, get your nails painted and there were all kinds of samples and freebies to get. Plus all the little shops were having huge sales. I did buy a new sports bra from Athleta and I totally love it.
So after the fun we stopped back at the car to "unload" our goodies and then headed to the starting line. We got in line about 6:20 and I was so hungry by then. I had eaten lunch at like 12:30 and it was past my dinner time. The race had some "safety check" delays and did not start until almost 6:50. That was 20 minutes past the original start time of 6:30. So I was not too happy about that, but off we went.
It was a beautiful course that went through a neighborhood where some of the houses were so cute they looked like little cottages in the city. We also ran across a bridge that had a babbling brook and it took all my might to not jump in. It was an out and back course and on the way back I noticed an elderly couple sitting on a bench in their garden, in front of their "cottage" drinking wine. It was so sweet. They seemed so happy to wave and cheer on all the runners.
I finished with a time of 29:26 or close to that, it wasn't my best time, but it also wasn't my worst time either. I think I still finished in the top 33%. But I wasn't looking to PR or anything, I just wanted to finish...so I could eat. LOL
As we crossed the finish line we were ushered to the area we picked up our race packets and waiting there for us was a giant tub of ice water with hand towels in it. That was AWESOME! I grabbed one and totally put it on my face and neck. Seriously they need this at every race. They also had some snacks of popcorn, chips, pretzels, bananas, water and Gatorade. Whew! I did grab some popcorn and pretty much inhaled it right away. Once my friend crossed the finish line we headed down the street to the "after party".
That is where the real food was. Edina Grill hosted the after party and served up a great meal. We had Turkey burgers with cheese, carrots with dip and a mixed fruit cup. It was very delicious! We decided that after all that it was time to head for home. We made a quick stop at The Container Store on the way home and I made it to my house around 10:00pm. I think I finally go to be about 11:00 or so.
This was a fun race, great atmosphere, wonderful course, awesome freebies and food. I will totally plan on this one next year!
Have a great Weekend!
